Adventures
02.29.04 - I've been slacking when it comes to posting adventures, so I decided to make
the "Adventures in the works" section because it's something I think about a lot. Right now the main scheme in my head is
to canoe to the Bay, but there will always be more.
Here you can read about all my travels, all my adventures that have had a lasting affect on my life. Enjoy!

Me driving the magnificent Dreamcatcher. |
Sailing in the Florida Keys
April 2002
During Spring Break of my senior year of high school, we had our Venture Crew Super Activity in the Florida Keys.
We chartered a boat to take us sailing and snorkeling at many different reefs. The 65-foot schooner Dreamcatcher was our home
for a week as we sailed, fished, baked in the sun, and snorkeled every day. We saw dolphins almost every day, often swam too close to
barracudas, and even chased a few nurse sharks. It was on this trip that I truly fell in love with the ocean, and that one
week was the greatest of my life.

Waiting for a wave - at Pipeline! |
Skimming in Hawaii
Summer 2003
During Summer of 2003, I took a web site job that would make me enough money to go with my
good buddy Derek to Hawaii! Derek is from Hawaii, and his family was nice enough to invite me to go with them to
visit their relatives. The trip was unbelievable. And not just because every single part of that state is
unbelievably beautiful. We took our skimboards and got to skim at all the legendary surfing spots - Pipeline, Waimea Bay,
etc. Because we went during the summer, however, the waves were not of legendary size. Big enough to scare us, but not
kill us. :)

The White House - hard to believe I was there! |
Maryland Trip
Summer 2004
During Summer of 2004, I flew up to Maryland to finally meet my girlfriend's parents. We saw
a lot while we were up there, including downtown Baltimore, Gettysburg, Washington D.C., Annapolis, and more. We
visited several museums, including an ordnance museum on the army base and a small maritime museum in Havre de Grace.
The maritime museum had a boatbuilding school going on inside, and I saw a boat being built with the same method I
am using to build mine! It was a very exciting, fun-filled trip up North.

Canoe to Escambia Bay
Hopefully soon
It's a long way from campus to Escambia Bay, but I've been wanting to canoe there for a while.
It's certainly been difficult trying to recruit friends to go with me...after all, it will probably be a long, hellish day.
So to prepare for such a long canoe trip, I came up with a few shorter trips we can do to work our way up to getting to the
Bay. The map to the left (click it for an enlarged version) has a mark for each canoe trip. Mark #4 is my ultimate goal.
We will time ourselves each trip we go on to get a rough idea about how long it will take to get to the Bay. If it
doesn't look like we can even get to the Bay and back before the sun goes down, maybe we can take some camping gear and
stop somewhere along the River to camp, then make it back to campus the next day.
