The Code Book
Author: Simon Singh
Copyright date: 1999
In The Code Book, Simon Singh starts explaining codes and ciphers from the very beginning of human civilization.
He discusses the cipher, as well as how and when it was used, in great detail. Then he tells us who broke it and how.
It is such a great exercise for your brain to crack one of these codes! This book hit home with me.
Singh also talked a lot about the code machine used by Japan in World War II, known as the enigma. It was an incredible
device! So incredibly simple and brilliant at the same time! Anyway, I love reading about such things, and of course
I love reading everything I can about World War II.
I think this book was the fastest I ever read a nonfiction. It was simply awesome. If you like math, or incredible
feats of brilliance, you should read this book!
