Survivor
Author: Chuck Palahniuk
Copyright date: 1999

Survivor was a good book, but it wasn't my favorite Palahniuk. In this book the last surviving member of a suicide cult tells his life story. He talks about his quick ascension to fame and fortune just by being the last survivor.

According to the back of the book, the novel is a "hilarious satire on the wages of fame and the bedrock lunacy of the modern world." But frankly, I didn't really get it. Yes, the guy had a crazy rollercoaster ride through fame and fortune. And I guess if this kind of thing really happens, it does show our society is pretty weird. But, this story just didn't seem to come with the trademark life-changing messages that Palahniuk usually delivers.

To me, though, this book was worth reading. I'm such a big fan of Palahniuk, I enjoyed reading it just because it's Palahniuk, and just because I want to read everything he has.
