Mountain Dew and Chex Mix

I've been addicted to Mountain Dew and Chex Mix (home-made, of course) for a long time. They are even better when taken together.

Back when I used to work on web sites a lot, I would always have these two provisions with me. For some reason, this combination seemed to make me more productive. I'm sure a part of it is because of the high level of caffeine in Mountain Dew. All you have to do is take a few swigs and then you can code much faster than usual. Chex Mix just kinda grew into Mountain Dew's sidekick.

Now, tonight, I am once again washing down my Chex Mix with Mountain Dew. I think that the combination has become such a symbol of productivity that it forces me to be productive. Look at this article, for crying out loud! I had nothing to write about, but I sat down with Dew and Chex Mix and it forced my hand to move, to write about the very first thing I could think about.

I think it is interesting how we can develop our own sort of placebos like that. Perhaps, with a lot forethought and hard work, we could engineer placebos for ourselves, to make us more productive (or more courageous, or more philosophical, or whatever) so we can force out these traits whenever we need them. It is an interesting idea, indeed, but I'm too hyper to ponder it right now...he he he.
