Monopolies Suck

I'm pretty sure now that I hate Microsoft. This is not a new thing, but before it was only annoyances. Now, I hate Microsoft. I'm so tired of crappy software.

I've been looking into installing Linux on my system. If you don't already know, Linux is a free, open source operating system. I think it would be so much fun to install this OS and play around with it.

Obviously, Microsoft Office will not run on Linux. That's not really the problem, there are word processing programs you can use with Linux - but I don't have a printer. To print all my school documents, I walk down to the computer lab with a trusty floppy disk and print out my stuff there. All the computers in the computer lab run Windows, so if I type a document on my Linux machine, I won't be able to walk it to the lab for printing! Also, every time I have used a computer in a classroom, I have used Windows. It might be difficult to try to duplicate this work on my Linux machine.

You may say "Get over it." or "Go buy a printer." Those are both valid points, but I think I shouldn't have to. It's the principle of the thing. Microsoft has spread their products so far and wide that you can't go anywhere without being forced to use them.

Isn't the great thing about capitalism the choice? I'd rather install Linux than continue to use Windows. But the simple fact is that I have school papers to print out and no money (that I'm willing to spend, anyway) on a printer. So I will reluctantly continue to use Windows.
