Time Takes the Thrill Out of Everything

It is an unfortunate side effect of everything you do - unfortunately, eventually, anything you can do long enough will become mundane.

I regard this site, The Vanilla Cigar, as one of my greatest accomplishments. I really do. It is so amazing for me to look back and see fifty-two (not including this one) philosophy articles. In this past year I have written loads of good stuff (and bad) and I have done even more deep, philosophical thinking. I have learned a ton about web design, obligation, and life in general. I'm proud of myself just for (mostly) keeping up with a weekly commitment.

When I first started writing for this site, I used to have my updates ready on Saturday and I would upload them on midnight Sunday. I was genuinely excited to deliver new content to my readers. Now, one year later, I didn't even start typing this one until 9:30 Sunday night. Those who followed the site carefully may have noticed that sometimes I didn't update until Monday or later... Alas, this site has become like so many other things in life - just something I need to get done. Just another deadline in a world that is already packed full of them.

That is why this is going to be my last weekly article. I need a break. I need to get my thoughts in order and change the site somehow so that it keeps me (and you, of course) interested! So I am taking off the month of December. I'm going to think long and hard about what to do with the site, and then try to implement the changes some time in January. If I can't complete the overhaul by January, I will at least let you know my plans, so be sure to look for news. If you have any suggestions, please post them in the forum.

Until then, keep reading and keep thinking.
